Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Nara Lokesh said that the state govt has been giving top priority for IT sector to provide employment opportunities to youth.
Replying to a question raised during question hour in assembly today, the minister said 194 IT units commenced operations in AP. He said that the state govt has been extending cooperation in the form of incentives, subsidised rentals in DTP notified buildings, rebate and land. He said 12,274 people got direct employment and 36,822 people got indirect employment in IT sector.
The minister said that the AP govt issued designated technology park policy 2017-20 to encourage private developers to develop IT office space in the state.
The minister said one lakh IT employment and 2 lakh employment opportunities in electronic sector would be provided by 2019. He said one cr sq ft building space is essential for development of IT sector. He said sixty per cent of companies are preferring Visakhapatnam, 20 per cent Amaravati and twenty per cent Rayalaseema for development of IT companies.
He said now Andhra Pradesh has been producing 2 mobiles out of 10 mobiles produced in the country and a target was set to increase the number to five.
The minister said millennium towers in Visakhapatnam would be inaugurated by the end of November. He said AP received 408 proposals with an investment of Rs 14,735 cr to provide 1.35 lakh employment opportunities. He said that the state govt has been giving priority for skill development programmes.
